Lisbon in one day

With only one day, it is best to focus on the compact old town. This route starts up on the castle hill, winds down through Alfama, crosses the Baixa and ends with sunset in Bairro Alto. All times are approximate.

Morning: Castle and Alfama

Start early at São Jorge Castle for the best panoramic views, then wind down through the alleys of Alfama to Lisbon Cathedral (Sé) and enjoy the view from the Miradouro de Santa Luzia (a scenic viewpoint).

Afternoon and evening

From Praça do Comércio, head into the Baixa and take the Santa Justa Lift up. The day ends at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara in Bairro Alto, ideal for sunset.
